Our Team

Meet the individuals working to support farmers and strengthen our agricultural communities.

Eli Cohen - Executive Director Dakota Harvest of Hope

Eli Cohen

Executive Director

Eli’s big love is learning about the science of sustainable agriculture and plant health. Some of the highlights of his farming journey include volunteering at Farm in the Dell of the Red River Valley and the Folkways Farmer’s Market as well as studying at the Northern Crop Institute. He founded Dakota Harvest of Hope to help address some of the feelings of isolation and loneliness his colleagues shared with him while they were out in the fields during the planting season. Eli’s favorite time of year is August, when he gets to help with the potato harvest.

Ben Thorseon - Financial and Programming Director Dakota Harvest of Hope

Benjamin Thoreson

Financial & Programs Director

Ben loves farming and business—two threads woven through his life by his grandfathers, both farmers in North Dakota. Raised around the rhythms of planting and harvest, he developed deep practical knowledge of crop cycles, equipment, and day-to-day farm operations. That upbringing also gave him a clear view of the financial and emotional challenges rural families face, which inspired him to blend business skills with hands-on agricultural insight. Today he applies that combination to support farmers with pragmatic solutions, build stronger local markets, and advocate for resources that help rural communities thrive.

Tristen Oelke

Outreach Coordinator

Tristen is proud to be part of Dakota Harvest of Hope and its mission to support farmers and strengthen rural communities. Coming from a family with deep roots in agriculture, he understands the importance of having support during difficult times. He would never want to see his family face mental health challenges alone, and that same care and support extends to every farmer and family Dakota Harvest of Hope serves.
